a2 Milk Reaches National Distribution Marketing to 12,400 Stores
The a2 Milk Company has achieved its goal of getting national distribution in the U.S. after adding Kroger and Albertsons/Safeway grocery stores to its portfolio. The addition of the two national chains have helped a2 maximize its reach in the U.S. market by partnering with 80 retail chains at more than 12,400 stores.
“The a2 Milk Company couldn’t be more thrilled with the expanded partnerships that we have secured with two of the leading supermarket chains in the U.S.,” said Blake Waltrip, CEO of the a2 Milk Company U.S.
Other major grocers where a2 can be found include, Costco, Walmart, Ahold, Sprouts Farmers Market and Whole Foods Market. Since November 2018, sales of a2 milk have climbed with an increase of nearly 45% in distribution.
Founded in 2000, a2 Milk is marketed as an alternative to other milks containing the A1 beta-casein protein because it only contains the A2 protein. a2 claims their A1 beta-casein-free milk is easier for consumers to digest.
Ten years ago a2 Milk began selling in Australia. In 2015, a2 Milk was first marketed in the U.S. when it started selling in California.
“The acceptance of the a2 Milk innovative proposition continues to be a true validation of our products and our benefit to consumers. Signing on with Kroger and Albertsons/Safeway will allow a2 Milk products to gain additional exposure in new markets, bringing us closer to our goal of giving every American consumer the chance to enjoy the nutritious benefits of real milk,” Waltrip says.
The addition of Kroger and Albertsons/Safeway is the latest in expansion for a2 Milk across the U.S. In January, a2 Milk added nine states in the Northeast to its distribution. A national advertising campaign was started by a2 Milk in March. Late in August the company announced an expansion into Walmart stores in five states. Costco was added to the portfolio in September.
