Amazon to Begin Selling Milk Online

Just like the iconic milkman of years past, Amazon could soon be delivering fresh milk to your doorstep.

Working under their privately-owned brand, Happy Belly, Amazon will begin distributing fresh dairy products including milk, half-and-half, whipping cream and lactose-free milk, all sold from the company’s grocery delivery service, AmazonFresh.

This decision may come after the fact that more and more consumers are turning towards the internet to purchase groceries.

Over the years, a higher amount of tech-savvy retailers have begun to offer grocery delivery options for their customers in the United States, according to The Statistics Portal. In total, U.S. online grocery sales amounted to about 17.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2018 and are expected to rise to nearly 30 billion dollars by 2021.

According to Quartz, you can only order the Happy Belly dairy products through Prime Now, Amazon’s on-demand delivery service, or buy them at an Amazon Go store, Amazon’s chain of automated convenience stores. You can also purchase the products by subscribing to Amazon Fresh, Amazon’s $14.99-a-month grocery delivery subscription that can be purchased on top of a regular Prime membership.

As more companies like Walmart, Hy-vee and ALDI join in on the online grocery delivery race, it’s no surprise that Amazon, the world’s largest online store, will now also sell milk.
