FARM Program 4.0 Revision Process Begins

FARM Program 4.0 Revision Process Begins

While dairy farmers are continuing to digest and implement changes to the Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) 3.0 implemented last year, the FARM Animal Care Technical Writing Group met last month to begin considering changes in its next revision.

The FARM Program is reviewed every three years to ensure the program keeps pace with new and relevant science on animal care. The Technical Writing Group will provide recommended updates this fall, which will then be reviewed and considered by the National Milk Producers Federation’s Animal and Well Being committee.

Final approval is made by NMPF’s Board of Directors with implementation slated for January 1, 2020. The review must be done now so that FARM animal care evaluators have sufficient time to undergo training during the summer and fall of 2019.
