Hiland Expansion in Texas Offers More Job Opportunities
Doubling the size of their current facility, Hiland Dairy Foods plans to expand and add 80 more jobs to its operation in Tyler, Texas.
Set to start construction later this year, Hiland hopes to have the expansion finished by November 2019. Once completed, 80 new milk processing jobs will be created having an average salary of $50,000. According to Hiland’s development council, the expansion would more than double the facility’s workforce from 74 to 154.
The company, which was originally founded in 1938, began in Springfield, Missouri, and has now expanded to 15 plants and 49 distribution centers across seven states in the Midwest. With four plants located in Texas alone, the company now plans to add on to its Tyler facility by investing $45 million in their preexisting dairy product manufacturing operation.
As an incentive to keep the food processing company in Tyler, the city council recently granted Hiland Dairy Foods a tax abatement time period, relieving the business from paying taxes on the property the company hopes to expand on for the next five years.
This news comes after the announcement of Hiland celebrating 80 years of operation by launching their Hiland Anniversary Tour. The tour, based in Missouri, aims to help local communities while also bringing consumer awareness to the dairy brand.
