Springer Prices Show Signs of Recovery

Springer Prices Show Signs of Recovery

The gradual signs of recovery in the U.S. dairy industry appear to be spilling into the replacement heifer market.

Holstein springer values showed modest increases in most parts of the country in the past month, although springer prices in Wisconsin continued to struggle.

While springer values nationwide remain well below the cost of production, they appear to be moving in a positive direction, with more than one market indicating that current springer prices are highly dependent on animal quality.

Holstein heifer calf prices were lower over the past month in all three reported markets.
