Vaccine Bank Still Planned as Part of 2018 Farm Bill
During planned remarks on the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) under construction in Manhattan Kan., U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS), Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, addressed the Farm Bill and funding for the vaccine bank. Watch here:
“In the Farm Bill—and yes, we will get a Farm Bill, there will be an effort to supply significant money for an animal health center. That really means a vaccine bank, if we can get there,” Roberts said. “That’s going to cost a lot of money, and we may have to do it in stages. But that will be addressed in the Farm Bill.”
The remarks came during a press conference on Monday, after Roberts hosted U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s tour of NBAF and Kansas State University’s Bio Research Institute in Manhattan, Kan. NBAF is on schedule to be completed in 2022. Check out our full coverage of NBAF here.
